Hart Blanton is a professor of communication. He studies communication processes that affect meaningful life outcomes in the areas of health, prejudice, and well-being. A social psychologist by training, his research on media influence draws on theories of attitude-behavior relations, social cognition, social comparison, and social norms. His primary line of research utilizes immersive virtual technology to deliver health communication. He also conducts research examining effects social and new media on adolescent health and well-being, as well as research examining the influence of science reporting on public opinion.
